NDIS SDA funding: full eligible amount shown in approved plans

NDIA's 22 October announcement says that from 19 October 2026, the full Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) funding a participant is eligible for will be included when their NDIS plan is approved, whether they already live in SDA or are looking for a home. This changes how funding appears in the plan; it does not change eligibility decisions, the amount a participant is eligible for, or how providers claim. Most participants do not need to take action. Existing plans showing a $1 placeholder or less than the full eligible amount will be updated at the next plan reassessment. A participant moving into an SDA home may be able to obtain an earlier update by submitting a change of circumstances, and must tell NDIA when moving into a new SDA home.

  • Check the participant's current approved plan in the organisation's authorised system; distinguish a displayed placeholder from a decision about SDA eligibility or funding amount.
  • Where the plan still shows $1 or less than the full eligible amount, note the next plan reassessment. If the participant is moving into an SDA home, check NDIA's change-of-circumstances process rather than promising an automatic early update.
  • Record the move, agreed follow-up and notification to NDIA in approved coordination records. Continue using current provider claiming arrangements; this announcement does not introduce a new claiming process.

Four NDIS price limits increase from 1 December 2026

NDIA announced on 19 October that four national hourly price limits will rise from 1 December 2026: House or Yard Maintenance (01_019_0120_1_1), $59.01 to $63.42; House Cleaning and Other Household Activities (01_020_0120_1_1), $60.10 to $64.59; Assistance with Personal Domestic Activities (01_004_0107_1_1), $61.16 to $65.73; and Specialised Home-Based Assistance for a Child (01_016_0104_1_1), $61.16 to $65.73. These future limits are not available early and do not mean every provider price automatically changes. NDIA says the item numbers and claiming process stay the same, with a revised schedule and claiming guidance due on 1 December.

  • Match the four item numbers to services actually delivered, and record the service date and applicable official schedule in the provider's authorised billing records; use the limit for the delivery date, not the invoice or claim date.
  • Before changing an existing service agreement, discuss the proposed change with the participant and obtain their agreement; keep that record in the provider's approved system rather than applying an automatic increase.
  • Recheck NDIA's revised schedule and claiming guidance on 1 December before implementing the future limits; use the official schedule for remote and very remote rates rather than calculating them from these national figures.
  • Keep the payroll review separate: the Fair Work Ombudsman describes eligible home-care disability employees' wage changes from the first full pay period on or after 1 December. An NDIS price limit is not an employee wage rate.

Support at Home End-of-Life Pathway: extension from 8 March 2027

The Department says that from 8 March 2027, an End-of-Life Pathway participant who remains living at home after the initial 12 weeks will automatically continue for a further 12 weeks without reassessment and receive approximately $25,000 in additional funding. This is a future change, not the current duration: at present the pathway runs for 12 weeks, with services able to continue for up to 16 weeks where needed and funding remains. Eligibility and access arrangements are not changing, and a person can access this pathway only once through Support at Home. The pathway complements, rather than replaces, state and territory palliative care services. Services Australia's 22 October notice confirms that providers can continue to claim services under existing arrangements; the extension does not introduce a new claiming route.

  • Have the care partner record agreed support, family or supporter preferences, and coordination with the medical team and other palliative care services in the provider's approved care-plan and contact-note systems.
